Drinks Ceremonies
try authentic tasty and healthy drinks
from around the world
Ceremonial Cacao
A Cacao Ceremony is a spiritual ritual that involves drinking ceremonial grade cacao in a group setting to facilitate connection, healing, and self-exploration. It originates from ancient Mayan and Aztec traditions and has gained popularity in modern times for its ability to promote mindfulness and personal growth.
Ceremonial Cacao is made from heirloom strains of Cacao from Central and South America and the top quality product we use is imported from Peru. Unlike conventional cacao or cocoa powder, ceremonial cacao has not been de-fatted and is minimally processed under low temperatures to maximize its health benefits, plus it tastes exceptional!
Yerba Mate
Yerba mate is an herb native to South America and is used to make the national drink of Argentina, Paraguay, Uraguay and Southern Brazil. Discovered by the indigenous peoples of the forests of Paraguay and Southern Brazil, it was known as an herb “from the gods” used mostly for physical stamina.
Yerba mate is often described as earthy, vegetal, herbaceous and bittersweet, a beverage with the energy kick of coffee, the smooth flavour of traditional tea, the healing components of herbal tea and the feel-good factor of chocolate. In fact, the yerba mate plant contains caffeine and the other stimulants also found in coffee, tea and chocolate. Generally, the caffeine content of a yerba mate beverage is typically more than black tea but less than coffee – give it a try!
Moroccan Mint Tea
Anyone who has visited Morocco will have experienced mint tea – just about every Moroccan person consumes numerous glassfuls every day! It is simply made with fresh mint leaves and green tea with sugar added to taste to produce a refreshing drink, but it is the mixing and pouring ceremony that makes it something special!
Matcha is a Japanese green tea powder made from finely powdered dried tea leaves. It has a slightly bitter, vegetal taste and a vibrant green colour that is a result of the high level of chlorophyll in the leaves. It’s been a cornerstone of traditional Japanese tea ceremonies for centuries and has recently become popular in the western world because of its health benefits. What does it taste like – find out at Bohemia Retreat!
For centuries herbal teas have been drank for preventing and curing illnesses and for boosting health, as well as for their often very pleasing taste and refreshing properties. At Bohemia Retreat you can try many types of herbal teas, including mint, hibiscus, borage, lemon balm, ginger, chamomile. rosehip and sage and most can be made from fresh herbs gathered from our herb garden. We have a collection of over thirty types of mint from all over the world, including chocolate, orange. banana, eucalyptus, cucumber, etc., and a fun thing to do is to make your own unique tea cocktail!
What to see and do in the area
Bohemia Retreat is located in tiny rural village and just a few metres away start marked walking trails that take you through almost endless forests and a beautiful rolling countryside of meadows and hills. Enjoy the freedom of Bohemia, leave the trails and walk where you like in the forest, valleys and meadows as it is permitted and safe to do so – you can even walk across the farm fields if there are no crops or around the edges if planted. A few minutes drive is a bigger village with supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants. Just 15 minutes away is an enormous scenic lake with sandy and grass beaches, clean water swimming, free water slide, water sports, bars and restaurants, plus nearby are indoor/outdoor swimming pools. Close by are many fascinating historical sites to visit, traditional villages and towns, castles and historical buildings. Just 15 minutes drive away is Konopiště Castle, one of the most impressive castles in the country, the elaborately furnished former home of Franz Ferdinand d´Este, heir to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, with beautiful gardens that are free to access and guided tours of the interior in various languages available for a small fee. And of course, we are only 45km south of Prague!
